New and replacement nurseries are proposed for Overlee Park; Crookfur Pavilion; Glenwood Family Centre; Busby and Eaglesham to meet this demand for spaces.
Existing pavilions at Crookfur and Overlee Park will be improved as part of the planned work to offer improved community sports facilities, benefiting from the introduction of new changing rooms and enhanced play spaces.
Key challenges
The single storey buildings have been designed to provide bright, modern and well considered environment for a growing school population. Each building comprises a mix of learning and breakout spaces with both indoor and outdoor facilities as well as offices and community facilities.
The frame solution was a composite of steel and timber providing maximum flexibility at minimum cost and programme. The steel frame created large volume spaces for the learning and play spaces.
Results
Both Crookfur and Overlee Family Centres also provide sports changing facilities linked to the existing playing fields.
Externally each facility has made the most of the site providing exciting play and learning opportunities as well as enhancing the play spaces of the existing schools at Eaglesham and Busby.
